the car is over heating and burning up cant drive it the temperature gauge is in the red if i put it in drive but not if i press the gas or ave it sit in park

If its not that late Go find the thermostat and replace it and see what happens if it continues to overheat. Get a block and pressure tested to identify combustion gases in the cooling system if its present-one of these is blown headgasket-crack head or block.
