Electrical problem
1989 Pontiac Firebird V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 100k+ miles

I have a 1989 firebird 305 tpi. Starts and idles fine howeve the idle is a little rough. The problem occurs when I give it throttle it will throttle up to about 2500 rpms then completely shuts down but then it will restart usually right away sometimes I have to wait a minute and sometimes it takes a while. When I restart the engine it does the same thing shuts down at about 2500rpms what could be the cause of this problem

Hi
Pull dist. cap and rotor see the green and white wires going to coil thing with the teeth ? see if insulation is broken if so replace coil. if all good then suspect ignition module can remove and have tested.

I have to agree with the previous poster. I had a very similar issue which was intermittent when warm, and it was time for a new coil.

Thanks for the help. I check the module and it was good. I then did a noid light test on the injectors and found a bad number 7 injector. Which as causing a short in the injection circuit when warm. I hope this can help anyone with similar symptoms.
