Pontiac, bonneville, 1998,109, 3.8. Do you think buying a engine is cheaper than buying a heater core and a cylinder head gasket. And if you do where is the cheapest place I can receive it at in flint, mi. Cause right now I am single mother with 3 kids and is in college and that's my only transportation. :( :(

The heater core is about 30-50 bucks but I dont know the price of head gaskets. The price should be no more then 100 for the both of them. A new engine is around 3000 dollars. And plus the heater core does not come with the engine.

When you add the labor and part markup into the equation the price will dramatically go up. The head gasket job will probably exceed $1000, the heater core $350-400 maybe. Used engine $2000-2500?

Yes, I didnt add in labor just parts. If your a good learner and have some tools, pick up a chiltons and you could easilly change them yourself and save quite some money. Even if you do decide to take it in it would be cheapr then buying a new engine.
