1997 Pontiac Bonneville 162,000 miles 3800 engine
This vehicle stalls sometimes at low speeds and then does not start again immediately. It will crank just fine.
If it sets for awhile ( 15-45 minutes) then it will
start again. It usually happens on hot muggy days.
It was towed to a local GM dealer and their diagnostics did not find anything wrong. Please help!

Okay lets start by checking out the EGR for carbon and it operations-that checks out-do a fuel pressure test to nail the injector/s,fuel pressure regulator and pump.

The best method to troubleshoot this problem is to catch it while on the act by checking fuel and spark immediately. Something has to give-

I have just had similar symptoms on my 94 SE, 75k mi on engine, 245k mi on the car... I have a scanner and it says no codes, historical or current; fuel pressure at idle should be 3 - 10 psi according to the manual and it was 38 psi. Replaced the fuel pressure regulator with a new one, and now the idle fuel pressure is 35 psi... but so far the problem has not recurred.

anybody have an opinion as to why the fuel pressure would be 35 lbs at idle?

Disconnect the return line and use compress air thru it, to eliminate restriction,if it continues recheck the regulator and vacuum going to it.
