Hello, I have a 1994 pontiac boneville with a 3.8 litre engine with 234,000 km.S.I am doing the front brakes and noticed the drivers side cv joint is split (closest to the brake rotor) I was wondering what this project involved. Thanks davej.

The best way is to replace the axle. Unless the boot has just recently opened up. A manual will help:

The ball joint needs to be separated, the axle nut removed. With the ball joint disconnected, the spindle can be moved forward and the axle removed.
