2002 Pontiac Bonneville Parking Brake

Parking brake does not release no matter how hard I push down on it. (Push to release) Light stays on.

Are you certain it is not releasing or is it just the light staying on? The park brake sensor may just be faulty causing light to stay illuminated. If you can feel the park brake holding though then you may need to adjust the cable

You are correct! The switch is closed all the time and the parking brake does not set. I will dig in further on this problem.
