hello,my pontiac bonneville ssei starts then runs for about 5 minutes then shuts off.We then try to start it but it sounds like it wants to backfire and wont stay on.we replaced the battery and fuel filter,do you think it could be just bad gas?I went to new gas station the day before problems started. It seems like it shuts off when it warms up. Can you please help.?thank you

Lets do this check the fuel pressure make sure its within specs-if okay clean out the idle air control valve. Will it continue to run as long as your giving it gas ?

yes it struggles though and still shuts off. It appears to be a little smoke coming from down under where you put the oil at.

Check the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge designed for your system and check the 2 components I've mentioned earlier then report back with some results.

BTW do you have a check engine light lit and when was the last tune-up ?

I see that right under where you put the oil at there is smoke coming out of there.and it is wet.I think it is oil.I don't think its the fuel pressure. Do you have an idea what it is?

The fuel pressure test port should be right along the fuel rail if its a MPFI system
