My Aztec does not start at times and will not release the key. We have checked the fuses, tried jumping it nothing works. It keeps flashing error. It does have an anti theft system. How can I over ride that or correct this problem

You cannot over ride the Security in the car, it is programmed into the BCM module. I have a similar problem but with many more electrical issues too. Check ALL of your grounds on the vehicle. I have pulled fuse 28 under the hood for the night and reinstalled in the morning when I am ready to go and that seems to at least get me to work. Does the shifter lock so you can not move it??

We got rid of the car. The electrical problems escalated and would not restart in a Toyota car lot so we took that as a sign. We will not ever buy another Aztec. Yeah the shifter locked sometimes it wouldn't let go of the key, The car was possessed. It would start on it's own or not turn off. It's just too tiring to find out what the problem was. Towards the end all of the electrical stuf was going hay wire. It was very unsafe to drive.

Last night I took all of the grounds off on the car and cleaned them to bare metal and put them back on. Believe it or not the car has got rid off the problems I was having. Seems to work fine, sorry you sold yours we like ours and it is good for us. Good luck with your new car, they are all a pain at some point.
