What are symptoms of a need to replace a Serpentine Belt?

If the belt is cracked--frayed or missing, you need to replace it. There maybe tension indicator on the tensioner pulley, where applicable, if the pointer is outside the guidelines, there may not be enough tension on the belt. I didn't see a mileage guideline? Belt noise is also something to check out.
