Computer problem
1998 Plymouth Voyager

I have a 98 Plymouth Voyager. The lights keep flashing. All of them, headlights, tailights, brakelights, blinkers, interior, etc. I think it is something to do with the factory alarm system but am not sure. Also chooses not to start sometimes. What could it be and how can I get it to stop? Can I disable the alarm or at least the anti theft portion of it?

The engineers have found a reason to add a very unreliable computer to these otherwise trouble-free systems. All the lights you mentioned are run by the body computer which has a very high failure rate. It lives up against the firewall in front of the brake pedal. Even professionals have a hard time getting it out, and removing it unplugs it so you can't even troubleshoot it in the circuit.

What is the symptom when it doesn't start? If there's just one loud clunk from the starter but it doesn't spin the engine, suspect worn solenoid contacts. They can be replaced for 20 bucks, but most people just replace the entire starter motor. It's a very common problem.
