My 97 plymouth voyager will crank but will not start, off and on for two months. After turning over for 15 minutes the van will make a puff noise slowly sputter to a startThe vehicle has 289000 miles and is burning oil and leaking oil from the timing belt area. I have changed the O2 sensor before the catalytic converter and replaced the distributor, rotor and wires. The dealer cleaned the injectors however the problem was back in a week. The dealer said the torque convertered needed to be replaced however the trans was replaced three years ago so I rode with the mechanic at the trans shop who did the work and their computer found no problem. Give me the possiblities so I can check them one by one.

Thanks Al

My 97 plymouth voyager will crank but will not start,

Disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it
