Hi. I have a 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager with 185,000 miles. It's been running great all these years, but last week over a ten mile stretch of highway the engine started losing power sporadically, feeling very much like it was running out of gas. But the tank was full.
Problem went away and has not returned, but I figured I would replace the fuel filter as a precaution. Good idea?
I phoned my local Jiffy Lube to see if they could replace it. I was told that on my 97 Voyager specifically the fuel filter could be in any of three locations, including inside the gas tank and that I needed to bring it in have them see where it is. And if it is in the gas tank, they couldn't help me.
This response surprised me. Was this guy correct? Where IS my fuel filter? Is $70 reasonable to replace it? Should I pay the extra $30 or so for their fuel system "cleaning" while I'm at it?
