when I turn on my vehicle, it clicks a few times, then usually starts. It looks like the cables may have corrosion in them, the battery is new also. Could the corrosion be the problem?

Possible starter motor issue? Some of the national brand autostores will test the starter for you, if you take it off and take it to them. We can also test the circuits at the starter relay. Terminal 52 is hot all the time. Terminal 49 goes hot with the key in the crank position. Terminal 51 is ground for the coil side of relay, grounds through the neutral switch. Once relay is grounded terminal 50 carries voltage to starter. The diagram is for 3.0L w/o trans control module. Also, I'd have to be sure all positive and grounds are ok.
