How do I replace the alternator?

Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove alternator belt.
On 1996 models, remove windshield wiper housing.
On all models, remove alternator mounting bolts and separate alternator from bracket.
Remove B+ terminal, field terminal and ground/wire harness nuts, then remove electrical connectors.
Remove alternator from vehicle.
Reverse procedure to install.

If you've got the 3.3 liter engine and are used to GMs, this is a surprisingly tough job, mostly because you can't get the alternator out of the car without also removing the upper support bracket for it, which is bolted both to the front cover and the back of the engine and also supports the power steering reservoir, not much room to maneuver, may have to also remove the belt tensioner, etc.
