Brakes problem
1993 Plymouth Voyager 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

my brake peddle has minimal pressure until I reach the floor while driving. When I get to th floor it seems that I have good brakes, but it is sudden. All 4 tires will lock if I want to do so. I have no leaks, have bled the brakes, and have new pads/shoes. When I pump the brakes, while the vehicle is off, I get some pressure in the peddle, but it does not become firm. When I let the brakes rest for 10 seconds and repump the peddle I realize I have lost all the pressure that I had pumped into the system. I am confused if it could be more air in the lines, a bad brake booster or perhaps my master cylinder. Also, how could I check these components without just replacing the parts at random?

I would replace the master cylinder because it has all the symptons of a bad one. And you will reach your neat birthday.

I have the same vehicle and have been through this 3 times in the last 10 years. I live in Canada, so there may be some differences. My vehicle has a lifetime warranty on some brake parts and labour! My brakes failed and the local mech was unsure as to what was going on. My vans symptons were as you described. There is anti-lock assembly that was so poorly designed that Chrysler had to put the lifetime warranty on it (for safety reasons). What is covered is the Brake Piston Assembly and the Pump Motor Assembly. I have had them replaced 3 times and each time the local dealer bills Chrysler $1,200 for the parts and labour. Do not get an independent to do this works as it may cost you some$$. Google 1993 Voyager recall brake and you will find the recall #. Thanks Corbin
