1992 Plymouth Voyager 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

my van only has hot air when i have my foot on the gas. When i take my foot off the gas pedal cold air blows. Could the tempature coolant sensor be causing this if that is the problem can you tell me where the sensor is located in the motor Thank-you

Before you dig into the ECT sensor, do you have enough coolant? And what is the mixture of the coolant? What I mean is that is it properly mixed at 50/50 coolant/distilled water? When is the last time the cooling system serviced. If it has been more than 2 years, I would recommend flushing. You may have a lot of junk and sludge in the system, especially around the heater core causing low moving cooling system doesn't have enough pressure to push through.
