My 2000 Neon has an alarm problem. While driving, the doors automatically lock hundreds of times and randomly as if I just opened the door. Plus when I turn off the car and leave it with the doors locked the alarm will sound relentlessly causing the horn to go off and the lights to blink. Now I had a friend take out the horn fuse which allows my neighbors to sleep a little easier, but the lights still go off. Now the battery is dead. This is the third battery I have had to buy. How can I separate the alarm? All I want is to disable the alarm without affecting the entire electrical system. Thanks.

Depending on what type of alarm system you have, the control module is either on the right side of the steering column below the key switch, or under the center of the dash. This is assuming it is a factory unit. If it's aftermarket, it could be anywhere. Hope this helps.

I hope you don't mind a bit of input Mr Weizel.

You will need to get the RKE/VTSS module read for faults. You cannot just remove the module from the system i'm afraid. Vehicle will not run without this module? Check with your dealer to see if your vehicle comes under the service bulletin guidelines?

REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) MODULE
Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) module is integrated into RKE module. Also see VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM (VTSS) MODULE. RKE module controls power door locks and VTSS. RKE module also wakes up Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) module when it senses a signal from RKE transmitter. RKE module communicates with other modules via the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) bus circuit.
RKE module monitors Air Bag Control Module (ACM) messages to check for air bag deployment signal. An Enhanced Accident Response Feature (EARF) is activated if air bag deployment signal is received, ignition is on and vehicle speed is zero MPH. EARF will unlock all doors, and illuminate instrument cluster and courtesy lights.
RKE module also communicates with Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to receive vehicle speed information to activate rolling door lock, to receive "okay to lock" message, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and body style information. Vehicle Access Code (VAC) from up to 4 RKE transmitters can be programmed into RKE module memory. Horn chirp feature on vehicle lock command is programmable. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS - NEON article.
SENTRY KEY IMMOBILIZER MODULE (SKIM)
SKIM prevents unauthorized vehicle operation. Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS) consists of the SKIM and ignition keys equipped with a transponder chip (Sentry Keys). SKIM communicates with other modules via the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) bus circuit.
SKIM sends messages to Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) module to control Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) indicator light. MIC module performs VTSS indicator light check when ignition switch is turned to RUN or START position. MIC turns indicator light on for about 3 seconds. If indicator light remains on, SKIM has determined a system malfunction exists or SKIS has become inoperative. If invalid key is inserted in ignition switch and turned to RUN position, SKIM will flash VTSS light. If invalid key is turned to START position, vehicle will start and run for 2 seconds, then shut off. For additional information on SKIS, see SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - NEON article.
VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM (VTSS) MODULE
VTSS module is integrated into Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. Also see REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) MODULE. VTSS module monitors vehicle doors, hood, trunk (deck lid) key cylinder and ignition for unauthorized operation/entry. When alarm is triggered, the horn will sound, and interior and exterior lights will flash for 3 minutes. Exterior lights will continue to flash for 15 minutes. VTSS module will communicate with Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), and other modules, via the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) bus circuit to activate "engine kill" feature. The engine will not restart until VTSS is disarmed. For additional information on VTSS, see ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - NEON article.

@DaveH

Is this a recall notice to the dealers or just a service plan should cash customers need the services in this bulletin?
