I am working on a 1991 Plymouth Acclaim. The car will only start and run if you keep your foot on the gas pedal. I cleaned the spark plugs and it started and ran fine without touching the gas but went back to dying the very next time i tried to start it. I am wandering if this might be a problem with the egr valve. i am open to any suggestions.

I would check the idle air control valve and clean the throttle body and linkage do the throttle plate too. i think its sticking a bit and the idle air control valve is faulty or maybe just dirty. oh and air filter, make sure that is clean and unrestricted
