1991 Plymouth Acclaim 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

The passenger-side windshield wiper has stopped moving while the drivers' side continues to function. To make matters worse, I can't locate my Haynes manual. Kindly diagnose and describe how to access the area to make the fix.

Unable to work since August 2007, going to school for a second career, no health insurance, blah, blah, blah.

I understand and am glad to help.

First, it sounds like either the linkage has come apart or has broken. What you need to do is remove both wiper arms. Next, you will need to remove the cowl at the base of the windshield. Open the hood to access the screws between the hood and the cowl. Once the cowl is removed, you will have access to the linkage. Check it out and let me know what you find.

I've removed the cowl and both wiper arms. The motor and linkage seems to be operating fine.

On the passenger side, the nut locking the arm to the armature was loose. The wiper arm hole has little trace of what once were teeth. It shows dramatic wear from wobble. The wear on the armature is less obvious and I can't tell if it originally had teeth.

On the drivers side, the wiper arm hole has worn but still has distinct teeth. As with the other side, I can't tell if the armature originally had corresponding teeth.
