I have a peugeot 306 1997. Everytime I turn on the air conditioning, a "stop" sign appears on my dashboard and the temperature gage rises and the red light on the temperature gage goes on. When I turn of the air conditioning, the "stop" light and the temperature gage light goes of.

Does this warning only happen when A/C turned on or periodically at other times ?? the engine works harder when AC on .. a simple check is the coolant level ok ??
