Trying to get car out of Limp mode after replacing throttle actuator module.

Hi,

A p1981 indicates that either the PCM is bad or it needs to be programmed. If there isn't a P0602 along with the P1681, chances are the PCM is bad.

Take a look below. I've included the directions for testing and inspecting.

Did you have this issue prior to replacing the throttle control actuator?

If not then I suspect we have an issue with this part. The accelerator pedal position switch is part of the assembly so it is likely that we have an issue with this system. If you notice in the attachment you will see where it can cause reduced power mode.

I would get this part exchanged if this started afterwards as it may be causing your reduced power.

However, if this is the only code that you have then that is an internal PCM failure which would need to be replaced. Please see the attached info below for the detail on this code.

It just seems like there was more to this issue so let us know what the issue was prior to replacing the throttle assembly.
