Hi

a dygnostic shows a P0488 error ie:EGR Airflow Throttle Control Circuit performance active.
Our local South African dealership suggests replacing but they only stock the assembly and it costs an arm and a leg.
Can one replace only the valve to rectify the fault if so what is the part number for the valve and where can it be purchased? What are the consequences of driving the vehicle as is?

You can try replacing valve if you can find it that may be why it is only sold as an assembly. You can also see if it is a blocked passage or EGR valve is stuck one way or another. If you continue to drive your fuel mileage can be bad or go bad if it is not already. Eventually something else will go out and cost you more as well. Check for vacuum leaks as well like hoses broken, cracked etc.
