When using the window, we heard the wire break on the motor. So, we got a new window motor assembly. Replaced it. Now the window doesn’t move in either direction when using power switch on the door. However, other three windows do work just fine. I also, tried a second motor assembly just in case same issue. What’s next step? It worked right before the window motor broke but now it doesn’t. Please help.

Hi,

Do you hear the motor turn on and nothing moves or is there no sound from the motor? I attached a wiring schematic below of the power windows. I need to know which window is the problem so I know what to suggest trying.

Let me know.
Joe

After putting in the new motor window assembly nothing clicks or has any sound coming from the device. It is the rear driver side window. All other windows work. I replaced the rear passenger window motor last month and the driver window motor about 12 months ago.

Hi,

The first thing we need to do is check for power to that window motor. There will be two wires going to it. One is dark blue and the other is brown. Each wire can show power based on if you are requesting up or down. For example, the dark blue wire will show power when you request the window to go up and the brown will have power when the window is requested down.

Using a test light, find a good ground on the vehicle, disconnect the plug at the motor, and simply see if the test light lights up when you turn the switch in the directions I mentioned. I highlighted the two wires in the attached pic. Make sure the key is on to provide power to the windows.

Do this and let me know the results. If you need help or have other questions, feel free to let me know.

Take care,
Joe
