well, i went out to warm my car up one day while it was snowing. while i'm getting the snow off i notice smoke (maybe just exhaust, but it was more like smoke) coming out of my muffler, and i also smelled something burnt coming through my vents. i turn the car off and try to turn it back on and it doesn't start. i turn the ignition and nothing happens. All of my inside components come on (radio, lights, etc). i recently tried to jump my car and saw this white residue around my motor by the belts. a friend told me it may be a blown gasket...i''m terrible with cars and have no idea...can you help me please..at least put me in the ballpark..thanls

to find out if its a blown headgasket perform a cylinder compression test, if one or more are more then 25% lower then the highest cylinder you have a blown headgasket, you may also have a bad intake manifold gasket. maybe even a cracked head. have those looked over, if you see nothing wrong post back and well go over other problems.
