1997 Other Oldsmobile Models Won't Start

1997 Oldsmobile LSS, All the lights and radio come on when you turn the key. If you try to start the car the lights and radio go out and the car does not even crank. Battery has just over 12 volts, also same reading at the starter. Car will not crank in park or neutral. If you cross the two wires at the starter it will crank over and run but only for a few seconds.
