My 95 ols ciera 3.1 was driven to work and when I tried to start it for lunch it would not start. Turns over fine but there is no fuel pressure in fuel rail I held in shreader valve on fuel rail when a friend cranked over motor and no fuel was present. I tried banging on gas tank while cranking over motor, and still no start. There is fuel in tank and fuel pump fuse is good, could it be a bad relay?I know this car has a red pigtail wire you can use to prime the fuel pump, but if the fuel pump relay is bad will this pigtail work to turn pump on? Could it be a bad relay or is it going to be the fuel pump?

Unfortunately it will most likely end up being a bad fuel pump. If you put power to the red wire and no fuel, the only other thing you can do is check for voltage at the gray wire at the fuel pump sender connector while cranking and if it lights you definately need a pump. Hope this helps

Do you hear the fuel pump come on when key is in on position?

Try checking for power at the fuel pump connector gray wire-all you got is 2 secs and report back your findings.

The computer energizes the fuel pump relay onces the vehicle starts up the fuel pump/oil sending unit powers up the fuel pump.

Or you can direct power to the fuel pump from the battery and see what happens.
