Car will not start. Checked battery replaced starter. Believe problem may be the key cylinder or some type of switch. Problem is not consistent. Car may start fine ten times then not start at all. Dosent matter if you stop car and restart or car sits for a long period of time. Have tryed playing with the shift lever (on the colum) and the key. Seems if car sits and I continue to try and start (5min) it will eventually turn over. Any tests I can do or advice would be greatly appreciated. Its a great car. Thanks

Hi kidscars,

Thank you for the donation.

Here is a schematic of the starting circuit.

Get a test lamp and test the following when starter does not crank.
All test should be carried out with some one assisting in turning the kety to START to crank the starter.

1. Test for presence of voltage at starter solenoid.

2. Test the Starter enable relay for voltage of Yellow wire.

Let me know the results of the tests.

Sorry I could not find any iagram in our database to indicate the location of the relay.

It is located underdash left of steering column. Follow the yellow wire from ignition switch and you would come to it.
