first the car would run good for a while with the service eng soon light on. then it wouldn't start for a half of a hour or so. after that it would start like nothing every happened run good for days except for dieing in the middle of the road and starting right back up again. Then it ran really good parked it and no start. so i put a new computor/injection control module/coil/cam sensor on. Eng light went off after the cam sensor. still no start so i replaced the fuel fuse and relay for the fuel pump. It started for a min. then it bogged down like it was'nt getting gas. That was after it choked and back fired. I hit the gas with out the key on and all you could smell was gas. This is all after i had it to the shop and had new spark plugs/battery/hermonic balance/oil change etc. He didn't have a clue!!!

When it doesn't start, have you checked for spark and fuel to the engine? Also, have you had the computer scanned for trouble codes?

I've been trying to get a code reading done on my 1998 Olds '88 when it doesn't start, but by the time that diagnostic tool has arrived, or by the time my car has arrived by tow to the auto repair , iti's back to being OK and so code can't be identified. FRUSTRATING!!!!!!
I want to keep car and get it repaired but can't spend any more time waiting for for the right time to get the code analysis done. Suggestions?????? This good, then bad , then good car will have to go.

Has anyone tried checking for codes when the light is off? There could be a hard code stored in the computer.
