1990 Cutlass Ceira. Just this winter my heater, possibly even just fan, has been making a horrible noise when it starts, car slows down or goes over a bump, when you turn the speed down, or when you turn it off. It sounds something simliar to a belt slipping, or maybe the blower blades rubbing on the housing. We run it on high or off to reduce the noise and hopefully reduce the life of the heater. What do you think? By the way it does blow hot air, just really freaking noisy. [img:58272315ce]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/306903_oldsmobile_1.jpg[/img:58272315ce]

Probably need a new blower motor, If I understand you, the noise only happens with the blower on? Try it with the engine off. Any noise with blower on? You seem to be describing two problems, if quiet with car off, the serpentine belt and tensioner need replacing. Possibly the A/C compressor or pulley bearing.

I have tried it with the ignition switch on-engine off- and it is still noisy. does that mean the problem lies in the blower motor needing replacement? or is it yet something else? thank you for your help :)
