1999 Oldsmobile Aurora V8 Front Wheel Drive

if I drive my aurora for then 30 miles, especially on humid or rainy days, it idles very high and seems to accelerate itself. If I stop the car the engine is idling so high that the car jumps forward despite the fact that my foot is pushing the brake all the way in. When I put the car in park, it idles extremely high, 4 or 5. Usually when I shut it off and turn it back on it goes back to normal idle. When I am driving it seems like the throttle is stuck. It even accelerates up hills! No one can figure it out even experienced auto mechanics. Please help.

First, is your "Check engine" light illuminated? If so, then you'll have to have that scanned. The codes will give you a place to start.

If not, then you'll have to check all of your hoses for vacuum leaks. A severe vacuum leak will make your engine idle high without setting a code in your computer. Another thing that will make your engine idle that high is a failed sensor, such as Crank/camshaft sensor, MAP, MAF sensors. However, they'd most certainly set a trouble code.

Finally, it's possible that your computer itself is failing. That's not unusual on a 10-year-old car.
