The first thing to check is whether or not you have fuel pressure when you experience this problem. You'll need a fuel pressure gauge. Hook it to a service port on your fuel rail and turn your key to the "ON" position. You should hear your pump running.

If you don't, and/or you have low fuel pressure, check your fuel pressure regulator next. You'll need a vacuum gauge. Hook it to the vacuum port that's on the regulator and apply 10 inches of vacuum. If it holds without dropping, then that's fine. If not, replace it.

If the regulator checks out, but you have low pressure, then the pump is bad.

Your fuel pump, sending unit and in-tank screen is a one-piece assembly located in the trunk.

To gain access, pull up your carpet and you'll see a fuel access panel up by your rear seats.

Remove the pump and replace it as a complete unit.
