My 1999 alero wont start ....it's a wrecked car awaitin rebuild so it hasnt been started in about a month . I tested the old battery and it was bad so I bought a new one and When I try to start the car it just clicks like it would if ur battery is dead . I've cleaned the cable ends and still nothing but a click when I turn the key

Try shorting out the starter solenoid and see if it cranks the engine over-if so check the park and neutral position switch and ignition switch

If I did it right , nothing but a few sparks when I shorted the solenoid out . Does that mean the starter is shot ?

Did you short out the battery terminal to the S terminal with the purple wire on the starter, if you did and the starter didn't crank the engine over-its gone/shot
