1999 Oldsmobile 88 car just stopped going

When I put my car in gear it wont go. It goes into gear easily, and the engine does not make any bad noises, but when I press gas it's like it is in park and engines rems up but car does not go.

Does the shifter feel real loose. Your shift cable may have broken off. Or there could be a problem inside the transmission that needs to be looked at.
