Ive replaced the battery and starter. The are both in working condition. I've use a 225amp battery charger set on start mode. The only results I keep getting is the floating starter gear(which is supposed to engage w/ the flywheel) only slams into the flywheel. It will not engage, therefore it is unable to perform its primary job of turning the flywheel. Even though the original starter did not have shims I shimmed it. And that did not work either. Can you guys please give me some more advice, because believe me i've been getting alot from everybody I know.

Remove the starter and make sure it spins (away from the flywheel). Make sure the shims are correct - you may need to shim it out even more. And, it is always possible that the new starter is bad - right out of the box. Have it tested.

One more thing -- make sure the engine isn't seized, which I certainly hope is not the case.
