Engine Mechanical problem
1985 Oldsmobile 88 V8 Two Wheel Drive 185000 miles

my son in law and I have changed out starter fuel pump alternator plugs wires distributor, coil and control module and still can not get car started thinking may be timing but dont know how to do timing without car running
brother in law mentioned bolt to move when trying to start but not sure where is any ideas

Hello, did you do any testing, before changing parts? Do some of the basic tests, try to see what your lacking, fuel, spark, whatever.

If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs? If you have spark everywhere, check fuel. You have a feed-back carb? Does the distributor rotor turn when you crank it? Can you tell if there is any cranking vacuum?
