My car has always been using conventional oil. Is it safe to make the switch to synthetic? What should I know before taking a decision?

There is no issue at all switching as long as you change the oil at the proper time for that oil. I would stick with what the OEM calls for as they know best but if you want to make the switch then you can.

Just to weigh in on if you should or not, I think it is a waste of money unless the engine calls for it. The only reason is, it gives you more time between oil changes but that does not alleviate the need to check the oil and make sure you are not running low. In fact, it makes it even more important to check the oil because you cannot increase the amount it holds so if you are going longer between oil changes you may run low on oil if it is using/burning any oil, and all engine use some oil.

Again, you are fine if you want to do it but I would not. Let me know if you have other questions. Thanks
