When trying to scan I get a error no communication. I tried the scanner on my other car and it works fine. Thanks

What is the scan tool you are using? Some have very limited or no coverage of European makes. Or it is possible the power fuse for the port has blown. Check pin 16 for battery voltage and pins 4 and 5 for ground.

Steve, thanx for the answer. I used a ANCEL AD210 OBD II scanner. It claims to be able to read eu cars from 2000 and up. Mine is a 2000. You mentioned the fuse. Would the scanner still be able to light up and tell me that unable to communicate etc if the fuse was blown? I thought if the fuse was bad it would not light up or function at all.
Thanks
Gary

It shouldn't power up if the fuse is bad unless it has an internal battery, I can't find a manual for it. But it is very likely that it doesn't cover Mercedes. I have three different pro level tools and each has holes in coverage, even though they claim full coverage. About the only way to be sure would be to plug a different scan tool in and see what it says. Does the car have issues? If it runs and drives I would bet on it being a scan tool issue.
