My vehicle shut off on freeway, wont start, no spark. Changed the crank angle sensor (camshaft sensor), coil, ICM, distributor cap and rotor, plugs, plug wires. Still no spark except in number one cylinder after I crank engine and return key to on position. It is loud and shoots spark out of the boot from 2" away from a ground. What could this be?

Hello,

When you say you changed the crank angle sensor are you referring to the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) or the camshaft position sensor (CMP)? The CMP could be the problem, and it is located in the distributor housing. I have included a description as well as factory troubleshooting guide for you in the diagrams down below. Please get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex

It was the camshaft position sensor. Chiltons calls it the crank angle sensor. Anyways the on-board diagnostic gave me an 11 error code, so I changed it first. Yesterday I noticed the rotor is pointed the wrong way also. And there's a burn mark on the cover below it.

I cannot get the distributor out. I've removed the bolt used to adjust it but it won't come out.
