I have a 95 pickup and the filter is on the left side of the engine compartment basically under the air filter. You should see one rubber tube coming out of the top going toward the carburator and then the feed line comes up from underneath.

I have the same truck in a 4x4. I looked and I don't see it either. Try locating you fuel lines and trace them from the trottle body to the tank or start at the tank and go to the engine. The book I have says its a canister type located in the engine compartment. Good luck.

I traced my fuel line and found that it is posibly in front of the right rear wheel. There is a bracket that is protecting it with what looks like the fuel pump. Hopefully yours is set up the same.
