I drove my husbands farm truck the other day and went over a lot of bumps in the pasture. It ran fine but when I shut it off and tried to start it again, it clicked like the battery was dead. I put a new battery in it but it still did nothing. I tried charging it but the truck just killed them instantly. Then on my last attempt smoke came from the battery. Now there is no lights or nothing even with a new battery. The only thing that seems to work is that annoying door ding-ding. Freaking thing. No dash lights or nothing. It don't even make a sound. Please help me before my husband gets home from the middle-east. It was his fathers truck and he loves that piece of junk. The motor has always ran great. Any ideas why this is happening? Did I fry something or did a wire maybe come lose?

Sounds like the NapZ engine my type-8 Hododas!

Okay-did you hook up the battery correctly meaning positive to positive and negative to negative-if not you blew the fusible links If its connected properly and you are seeing sparks, connections is still loose. Or you got it backwards-double check it then comeback.

What fuse are you talking about is it the miniature fuses or the fusible links The power from the battery has to got thru the fusible links before it goes to the miniature fuses then inside the vehicle.

The fusable links and all the fuses have all been replaced. I figured it might be something like that and dont know how to check them so I got all new ones.

Do you have headlights? Okay one more time recheck the fusible link green and also the black or gray. If its okay-inspect the battery connections and the ground wire at the engine and also the starter battery terminal at the starter.
