I was driving home from town yesterday and i was about 1/4 mile from home when i heard a rod knocking?!? Well it got louder and by the time i got home it was so loudi couldnt hear my str8 pipe exhaust... Went and looked and the oil sending unit shot out of the engine. Today I followed the oil trail and it went for about 5 miles... My truck ran without oil for 3-5 miles!!! Its locked up now bu t watch out for the oil sending unit coming loose.

Hmmm that sucks.I'm guessing your oil gauge didn't work, otherwise it would have warned you that the oil pressure was getting low.

Rob, your right on. It didnt work period. I usually ride with the hood off to keep it from vapor locking cause I switched factory with a Weber w/ oversized jets and it vaporlocked all the time. But not this time. I reccomend these trucks to any beginning driver cause they are slow the dont have a ton of power and the engine is so durable its not funny. Ive raced this thing floated it alot went off roading alot. ALOT. This motor is a very durable engine.

Yup there pretty good trucks. I have a 87 4runner and it's about as durable. It has the 22re engine. And about 450,000 miles on it. And it still runs good.

Yeah those 22r and 22re 4 bangers are some real good motors too. A buddy of mine has one that has almost 600,000 miles on it and has never had to have any engine work done to it. Just tune ups and oil changes. Those Nissan motors are bad about blowing head gaskets between the 3rd and 4th cyl. Mine before it locked up had about 15k since I had to get the head resurfaced and a new head gasket. Over at the mud hole a boy had a 22r in his mud truck got stuck and held it down for about 4 min. Before it went. He put a 350 in it and a turbo 350 tranny. It dont run through the mud as good now.

A 350 in a Toyota? Hell yeah !. A buddy of mine did the same thing, but instead of the Toyota words on the tailgate it says, "Chevota "lol
