Hello,

My 96 Sentra (120,000 miles) has a torn CV boot - I can hear a clicking when engaging in a sharp turn - that I've done minimal driving on for a few weeks, but am now taking to a mechanic. If it turns out that the CV boot and joint both need to be replaced, is there any reason that the axle would also need to be replaced? Can the axle bend, crack, or otherwise have damage from a torn CV boot? Thanks for your time and advice -

inside the boot is a grease that lubs the joint, one the boot tears all the grease gets flung out and damages the joint,so i would tell you to replace the intire axel instead of fixing that one, less problems down the line.
