Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Automatic 85000 miles

My engine dies when I slow down, come to a stop or prepare to turn a corner. Sometimes I'll run into traffic on the freeway the car will die. It usually shakes, really hard before dying. It typically idles low as well when it is about to cut off not above 1 rpm. I had this problem last summer however I went to school in the fall and did not experience the problem until I came back home. I've had my air filter changed, my pvc valve changed, my spark plugs changed. Most recently my fuel filter was changed because it was clogged and not distributing gas to the engine. They also did a fuel treatment on my car. It wasn't long until it started cutting off on me when I stop. Please help. I've been to everywhere from Pepboy's to a specialized Export car care auto shop and they claim nothing shows up on the machine when the car is hooked to it. One mechanic told me I might need a new distributor and fuel pump but wasn't sure?

You may have a vacuum leak, get a can of spray gumout, spray the vac lines and maniflod area, when the idle changes, youve found the leak! You want the engine running and spray on the outside but do direct the stream onto the hoses, if it is a vacuum leak, the engine idle will change speed, then you have detected a leak, repair the vacuum leak and see how it runs! If that doesnt do it, you may need a new idle air control valve, it's bloted to the throttlebody These often do not set a trouble code. Also check the EGR for sticking open.
