Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Nissan Sentra Front Wheel Drive Automatic 120000 miles

I have a pretty bad oil leak on the front passenger side of my car. It has covered the entire engine, alternator, ect. What is the most likely cause? Also I recently had to have my starter replaced and now the alternator has quit working. Is this related? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Leak areas include: front and rear main seals (crankshaft), valve cover gasket, oil pressure sender, crankshaft sensor and any other sensor or seal that is in an oil passage.

Best thing to do is to clean engine, use brake clean, not pressure washer and avoid all electrical connections. Take it to a shop and have a dye added to oil, drive for a few days and then have shop look at oil with a blacklight, they may be able to look at leak and tell you, but the dye method will give you a difinitive answer.

The starter and alt. Could be related, but if alt. Output is below 13V, it will have to be replaced, or you will be buying batteries a lot.
