I recently got new gaskets, drive belts installed by a mechanic. Ever since the car runs fine but if I drive at 60mph come to a halt and even a small acceleration would produce a lot of smoke and the car tries to pick up on the speed. No light such as Engine check etc. The mechanic relooked and changed spark plugs but it didnot help.
Please suggest.

The color of the smoke is Blueish white, I guess. It forms like a cloud and an odour inside the car as well like gasoline.

Bluish is an indication of oil is being burn in the combustion chamber-get the engine compression checked out to identify if its a rings or valves problem.

Thank You for the information. What if the cloud of smoke is white ? what would be the reason for it ? Since it happens while I was driving at 60 mph and release the accelerator since it's going downhill and accelerate again, I was not able to determine the exaxct color. It also hapens as I mentioned when the comes to a halt and ready to go situation.

White color smoke is an indication of coolant being burn in the combustion chambers

Get it block and pressure tested to identify a blown headgasket cracked head/block

BTW are you overheating?

The engine temperature remains the same...The arrow shows as like before and positions in the middle of the panel between C and H. The coolant level is close to the lower level limit though.
