1992 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Automatic 147000 miles

car wont start, it turns over but wont start. its not the fuel pump because when i turn the key i hear the pump humming, and its not the battery or alternator or starter thats new and it has enough charge going through, could it be the fuel filter

It doesn't mean that the fuel pump is okay bcuz its making a humming noise-check the fuel pressure before and after the filter to confirm the fuel pump is producing fuel pressure.

Could very well be an ignition system problem. Do below and tell me what happened.

Get a starting fluid or ether and spray into the carb or the throttle body on an EFI. Did it start and die? If not disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it

i just went out like 20 min ago and before i tried to turn the car on I put the accelarator pedal to the floor and turned the key and the car started right up i let it run for a while and let it warm up,then I continuously turned it off and on like four times and it started up fine i'm guessing i really don't know cars all that well, and thats why i'm on here. so with that said do you have a suggestion about this?
