2003 Nissan Pathfinder Displays issue

With the engine running: Left turn signal dimms the clock and radio displays as the signal flashes.
This is not happening with the right turn signal.
Also, when the brake is depressed the displays dimm.
This is not occuring when the headlights are on or the engine does not run.
Notes:
-Service engine indicator stays on since about the same time I started noticing the problem.
-I had an after-market tow package installed 3 years ago, including the harness.

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.

The indicators problem was caused by the trailer taillight converter. After disconnecting it the indicators are functioning normally.
As for the "service engine soon" light, it's still on. I will have the diagnostics done.
