1998 Nissan Pathfinder wont starte

it back fired once and died then it started up got home and now wont starte what could it be my son let it run out of gass but it has a full tank now i am at a lose her please help me andy

Sir-when you turn key to run do you hear the fuel pump buzzing for a few secs ? If so check the fuel pressure make sure its within specs-if okay check for injection pulses have helper crank engine over and check the injector/s if its clicking or use a noid lite-is it clicking/noid lite flashing ? If all checks are okay-disconnect a plug wire ground it and have helper crank engine over -Do you have spark ? If not check and test the following item Coil/Coil packs/distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, camshaft/crankshaft sensor, if item don't apply disregard it
