Is it worth it?

I have a '91 Nissan Stanza, automatic, 4 cyl, with about 110,000 miles on it. A friend gave it to me for free, I've had it for about 4 months. Repairs so far: new brakes on front, new tires, exhaust patched, right front ball joint replaced, and full tune-up. Total: $1150.00. Now the right front strut mount has worn out, and I'm told I need all new struts/strut mounts (cost:$1100). Perfectly understandable for a 16 yr old car - I know these things need to be replaced every so often. Is $1100 a reasonable price for new struts/mounts? Never had a car before. Just want to hear what some "car people" have to say - would it seem advisable to spend $1100 more on this car? I love the car, it runs like a champ - everyone who's looked at it says it runs very well for a car its age. But who knows if 13 other things are getting ready to break within the next year? Any advice?

Ya thats about ballpark for that repair. However it is still best to call around for a bit to see if you can find anything a bit cheaper.
As far as anything else going wrong. You would have to ask the previous owner about what he replaced on it. Their are lots of BIG things on cars that need to be replaced every decade or 150k miles or so. Like your strut assemblies, gaskets, water pump, thermostat, alternator and drive belt pulleys.

Good luck,
Joe
