The car is a Nissan Primera P10 (GA16DS engine).
When I start the car it runs normally. After 10 minutes or so the engine idles at 300 - 400 rpm and eventually stops. I find it very hard to start it at that time but when started everyting is back to normal. The car accelerates and runs very well ... I noticed that the spark plugs had become black as when the air-fuel mixture is very rich. I changed the spark plugs but it happens again. I've recently changed the fuel pump, air filter and fuel filter. I also cleaned the carb with a carb cleaner spray.
Can this be caused by a faulty catalitic converter?
What else coud cause this?

Do this if it refuses to start-immediately look for spark-If present-start with adjusting the auxilliary control valve and test the throttle position sensor and open up the EGR and look for carbon.

You could be right with a restriction in the exhaust system-do a backpressure test.
